Mission
The mission of the New Day New Life project is to increase suicide awareness and build prevention measures within the Hmong, Khmer, and Lao communities of Dane county. We aim to raise awareness by providing education on risks associated with suicide, providing coping and safety plans, and connecting our communities to resources that help keep them safe.
Crafted by SEAHC Elders
Top: March 2024; Clients at SEAHC created their own ribbon to show their support towards some of their awareness. We have combined all those smaller ribbons into one large one to spread awareness towards all causes.
Bottom: June 2024; Many clients talk about how gardening is a factor that makes them happy when they are worried and stress. We grow our own flowers to remind them about the happy things in life.
Tabling at Local Community
Top Left: December 2023; Staff at SEAHC tabling at Madison College Hmong New Year.
Top Right: April 2024; Staff at SEAHC doing a fundraiser and also setting up an informational table during the Cambodian New Year in Fitchburg.
Middle Bottom: June 2024; Staff at SEAHC tabling at the Health Fair at the UW South Madison Partnership.
Spreading Awareness
Left: March 2024; The SEAHC suicide team went to Kennedy Heights Community Center to educate and spread awareness about suicide
Right: October 2023; Second Princess from Madison 2023, Lee Kong Xiong (famous Hmong singer), Miss Grand Hmong 2023, Miss Hmong Wisconsin 2023, and First Princess from Madison 2023. They have all set aside their schedule to come and spend time with the elders at Southeast Asian Healing Center.
